After a week back at work post-school holidays, we’re sure that you are hankering for a couple of days off. The weekend is finally here and the city of Sydney has plenty of things lined up to help you make the most of it. Here are our top 10 picks.


Vinyl pop up store

For all you vinyl enthusiasts out there we hope you’ve saved up to spend big at the amazing vinyl pop up store this weekend. The sale is said to contain more than 3000 LPs and 1500 45s, independent releases and a number of ‘70s and ‘90s favourites.

Splendour In The Grass sideshows

So you couldn’t get time off to get to Byron Bay for Splendour In The Grass? Don’t fret because Sydney is hosting an awesome line-up of sideshows right here! Our two recommendations are Jack Garratt at the Metro Theatre tonight and Santigold also at the Metro tomorrow night at 7:00pm.

The Rocks Aroma Festival

Sip, savour and learn the art of the blessed coffee bean. Our favourite ‘cup of joe’ is the focus of The Rocks Aroma Festival this weekend. Although the celebration has been running throughout the month of July, we insist that you check out the coffee artwork, photography workshop and barista workshops on show.

Birds of Redfern – a fried chicken festival

Sydney’s love for fried chicken has hit new heights this weekend with the Birds of Redfern – a festival for fried chicken. The festival will showcase the very finest of Sydney’s fried chicken and wine. Hosted by the folks at Cake Wines, festival goers can look forward to witnessing the best fryers in the city in action accompanied by perfectly matched wine.

Urban artists are coming together to bring you a live art installation and a pop-up style exhibition. Two large shipping containers will take over the street and form a blank canvas for eight renowned urban artists to do their thing. Featured artists at the event include Nadia Hernandez and Shannon Crees.
