5 Paleo Eats In The East

Eating out caveman-style couldn’t be easier in the East. ‘Paleo’ is all about going back to basics; sourcing local, seasonal ingredients to produce delicious, nutritious meals. These-field-to-feast style eateries are popping up almost weekly, and Sydneysiders are welcoming them with open arms.

Here is our guide to some of the tastiest paleo cafes and restaurants in the Eastern Suburbs.

Henley’s Wholefoods - Bondi Junction
www.henleyswholefoods.com.au

From crispy skin pork belly to the most delicious paleo pancakes with fresh coconut cream, Henly’s is hard to fault. All of the produce is locally-sourced and, if it’s not 100% paleo, the team will be more than happy to alter a few ingredients to cater to your needs. Tip: the hazelnut meal bread is amazing!

About Life - Double Bay
www.aboutlife.com.au

The fourth progeny in the About Life family has just popped up in Double Bay and wow, it does not disappoint! Not only do they offer a killer salad bar with loads of paleo options, they also have the biggest selection of health foods and supplements in Sydney.  Just be sure to give yourself enough time to check it all out. It’s huge!

Porch and Parlour - North Bondi
www.porchandparlour.com.au

Café by day, restaurant by night. Everything is cooked in coconut oil and they serve their breakfast with sprouted bread. Porch and Parlour has a super-chilled beach vibe that is hard not to love, and the breakfast bowl (minus the quinoa) never disappoints.

The Suveran - Bondi Junction
www.thesuv.org

Sugar, dairy, egg, grain, legume and nightshade-free, it’s definitely the most hard-core paleo of the list. The food may not look the prettiest, but it sure does pack a punch on the flavour front. Everything on the menu leaves your body feeling amazing, and you even get a free coconut when you spend over $10.

Three Blue Ducks - Bronte
www.threeblueducks.com

The boys from Three Blue Ducks sure know how to cook a mean big breakfast. Although the menu is not completely paleo, it’s easy to alter the dishes to cater to your needs. Blood sausage with eggs and avocado is always a winner. Yum!
