Barrio Cellar Opens in the CBD

The team behind one of Sydney’s best Mexican eateries, Barrio Chino, have opened a new bar in the CBD. Barrio Cellar is a late night Tequila bar, complete with some of Barrio Chino’s best menu items, and an exciting addition to Sydney’s CBD nightlife.

Set in the basement space where nightclub Spice Cellar used to live, this is not one of Sydney’s many small bars. Expansive and with lots of space for large groups, Barrio Cellar is decorated sparsely with an art deco twist. There’s some key decor pieces (including a portrait of Frida Kahlo lit up in neon), but the focus here is on the food and drinks - as the sign out the front says: ‘Everything with Tequila’.

Expect great cocktails - Tommy’s Margaritas are a must - as well as great tunes and amazing food. With a menu inspired by a trip to Tijuana, Barrio Cellar’s main deal is authentic Mexican street food. Alongside favourites like Tacos, there are Mexican style hotdogs with bacon wrapped beef, pico de gallo, jalapenos and queso. Or try the ‘Hamburguesa’ torta - the Barrio burger with pickled jalapeno, chimichurri mayo and chipotle mustard. Many of Sydney’s food bloggers have named the Barrio Chino burger as one of the best in the city - and now you can get your hands on one at any time in the night, until the bar closes at 3am!

If margaritas are not your thing, try some of their new additions, like a Carlitos Campfire, with ginger agave, scotch and Bruxo mescal, or mix it up with a rhubarb margarita (a Rhubarbarita!).

DJS play until lights out at 3am - so grab a group together, load up on tacos and tortas to share, and get your tequila on!
