The Best Bun Burning Hills In Sydney


High Intensity training has recently become a popular phenomenon, with F45 and Crossfits opening up in every suburb. One of the best, free ways to add some high intensity training into your weekly exercise routine is the dreaded hill run your regular run avoids. Here is a couple of great ones to get you started!

Bat and Ball Oval - Near Moore Park Gold Course

Along side the Moore Park Golf Course, the bat and ball oval is often occupied by strollers, rollers and pedestrians alike. But you can bet that the patch of closely shaved grass on the incline of the hill will be vacant for a couple of runs up and down or a quick sprint (4 or 5 times if you can muster it up!) You will have earned a day off the gym for sure!

Fleet steps - Mrs Macquarie’s Chair

Located just behind the Sydney Opera House, The Fleet Steps are a great place to take a run and gain some burn time in your lunch break. Along with the beautiful scenery, the stairs are wide so you won’t get in any by passers way. Probably a good starting point for your legs to accustom to. 

Gordon’s Bay Steps - Gordan's Bay (Clovelly/Coogee)

The Bronte to Coogee isn’t only a staple, tranquil walking experience. It includes a great little portion of steps just beside Gordon’s Bay that will definitely have you cooking up a sweat. You’ll definitely be thankful for the decline on the way back.

Old South Head Rd - Bondi

It’s steep and seriously dreaded. But the Old South Head Rd hill is often utilised for clear pathways and for its bun burning qualities. Up and down this one a couple of times a week and you will feel bikini body ready for Bondi just down the road.

Awaba Street - Balmoral

It’s talked about. You’ve driven up it and thought ‘never happening’. But accomplishing the Awaba Street hill in Balmoral a couple of times, you will have a squat resembling backside in no time. And a sweaty, sweaty forehead! Not to mention your glutes will be squealing, too!
