Op Shopping in Sydney

The Best Places To Op-Shop In Sydney

Op-shop hunting used to be a real adventure. You would go through all the dusty books, sticky decorations, old tacky jewellery and shirts with dirty collars before unearthing the $2.00 scarf that perfectly matches your bag.

Oh, there is a small stain of red wine on it? Who cares? Finding it under this pile of clothes just made it the best discovery of the day. And this is what we love about second-hand shopping.

In most Sydney op-shops, the party is over: no more diving in mountains of clothes in the search of  . They’ve pre-selected the wheat from the chaff, sorted everything by colours and sizes, and that scarf you might have found is suddenly worth $15.00!

If you miss the thrill of hunting, our advice would be to stay away from Surry Hills' trendy vintage boutiques. Vinnies, Salvos and Red Cross op-shops are probably the cheapest options and you can find them all over the city. But here is a list of five more spots where you can op-shop till you drop.
