The Best Seafood in Sydney

It’s not a proper Aussie summer without sizzling prawns (not shrimps) on the barbie or a portion of fish and chips on the beach. If you’re in need of a seafood fix, head to these hot spots for a dang good feed.

Doyle’s On The Beach

11 Marine Parade, Watsons Bay

They’ve been around since 1885 so clearly they’re doing something right! If you feel like treating yourself and someone special, this is the place to come whether you’re in the mood for fresh lobster or good old fish and chips. And that summer sunset is to die for.

House of Crabs

The Norfolk Hotel, Level 1, 305 Cleveland St, Redfern

There are so many inappropriate jokes to make about the name of this place but their crab with creole butter is so good it’s no laughing matter. If you’re not into crustaceans, fear not, their barramundi with black bean sauce, roasted peanuts and green mango salad is equally delicious.

Flying Fish Restaurant and Bar

Lower Deck, Jones Bay Wharf, 21 Pirrama Road, Pyrmont

In the mood for something fancy? Well this is the place for you. Pop on your best clothes and sample the degustation menu if you’re one of those people who can’t decide what they want and are willing to let the chefs work their magic. There’s even an optional caviar course for the extra fancy ones!

Toko Sydney

490 Crown Street, Surry Hills

Surry Hills is always guaranteed to have good food, so take your pick of some fresh nigiri, rolls and sashimi from the sushi counter. Sip on a refreshing cocktail and try the kingfish with wasabi and blood lime for the perfect summer dish.

Sydney Fish Markets

Bank St and Pyrmont Bridge Road, Pyrmont

And last but not least, you can’t get much fresher than the fish markets. There are numerous cafes and restaurants to get your seafood fix as well as brush up on your cooking skills at the Sydney Seafood School. Just make sure you’re there early when buying your ingredients for Christmas dinner!
