Cinema under the stars

As weather is getting warmer, we are all dying to spend more time outside. Outdoor cinemas are a perfect way to make the most of this fantastic weather and spend some quality time with your friends and family. Sydney is spoilt for choice when it comes to outdoor cinemas, to make your choice easier we have scoped out some of the best ones!

Ben & Jerry's Openair Cinema: Located in Cadigal Green at Sydney University, Ben & Jerry's Openair Cinema will be in operation from now until 21 December. In the past the cinema has featured acts from outstanding performers such as Hungry Kids of Hungary, Kate Miller-Heidke and The Cat Empire. The films themselves range from both classics to new releases. With a fully licensed bar, wide range of foods to snack on and, of course, Ben & Jerry's ice-cream – free on Sundays!

St George Openair Cinema: For a more premium, luxury experience, visit St George Openair Cinema located on edge of the harbor with staggering views of the Opera House and city skyline. There is a restaurant at the venue, run by one of Sydney's leading catering companies, as well as a bar providing both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. This cinema will be open from 7 January to 17 February.

Sydney Hills Outdoor Cinema: Sydney Hills Outdoor Cinema will be run from 12 January to 12 February at Castle Hill showground. These outdoor cinemas offer something a little different, with VIP packages including seating ranging from lawn seats to bell tents, to the king-0size bedroom suites. It also offers a delicious food, bar and candy menu.

Sunset Cinema: Located at North Sydney Oval, the Sunset Cinema provides a historic venue for its screenings easily accessible from public transport. From January through to March, Sunset Cinema will be screening a range of both classic films and new releases. You can bring your own picnic to the event, however there is also a snack bar providing classic movie treats such as popcorn and chocolate!

Moonlight Cinema: Moonlight cinema, which launched 1 December, will run right through to 2 April at Belvedere Amphitheatre, Centennial Park in Paddington. Bean bags are available at just $9 or you're welcome to bring your own seating. There is catering and a bar at the venue, however you are also welcome to BYO food and drinks too!
