Discovering the Koomcha Trail at Zaaffran!

OutinSydney was thrilled to be invited to the highly anticipated VIP event at Zaaffran- a long-standing pioneer of refined Indian dining in Sydney, to showcase their new Koomcha menu. From the new refurbishment's sweeping the entrance, to Darling Harbour as a backdrop - the launch was a true success!

The night started with drinks and canapés on their stunning balcony over looking the Harbour which takes full advantage of its natural beauty, followed by an impressive sit down dinner with 110 guests serving up their traditional cuisine with a contemporary flair.

Zaaffran's mission is to serve unique, rare and treasured recipes, gleaned from royal households of India - not from commercial Indian kitchens.

Prepared by head chef and part owner Vikrant Kapoor and his team, Zaaffran’s new menu featured a delicious selection of re-invented traditional favourites created with the freshest of ingredients.

Here are our favourites and must-haves:

 • Chookudar Kay Gilavaat Crisp beetroot patties with ginger and green chili: semolina crust

 • Firangi Frankie Bombay's original multigrain taco with lamb

 • Pasilyaan Majnoon Double cooked angus beef ribs with yoghurt, garlic, chilli and garam masala

 • Naaz-E-Dariya Lobster meat stirfry; Kerala coastal coconut broth; with iddiappam

 • Gulab Aur Elaichi Ka Piyushi Rose brûlée: fresh strawberries; salted cashew praline

The visual feast, intensity and depth of flavour in every dish is unlike any other traditional Indian restaurant in Sydney - serving home style Indian cooking.

When you leave the venue already planning you're next visit with as many people as possible it's always a good sign.
