Drink Hopping Guide To Bondi
Bondi is one of our city’s most popular tourist destinations, but having fun in the sun can be thirsty work. So whether you’re looking for a cocktail, or perhaps a tasty beer to wash those seaside fish and chips down with, here’s our guide to the best watering holes in Sydney’s Bondi Beach.
Self- described as a “labour of love” this bar runs off the passion of its owners and chilled out staff. Drop by for happy hour specials (3-6pm) and enjoy live music every Sunday from 2pm with $10 cocktails and $5 beers. The Bondi Zombie ($17.00) is a winner if you’re looking for a kick after a relaxing day by the beach.
Add this to your Bondi bucket list. It’s as close to the beach as you can be. With a jug of Pimm’s, a bucket of fresh prawns at your side and the sound of the waves rolling in just metres away you won’t want to be anywhere else. The free outdoor cinema, Summer Sets Surf Flicks presented by Corona are still on every Wednesday (for now) and you’ll love their $15 Paella on Thursdays.
Tequila! Tequila! Join the masses at this classy Mexican-inspired Bondi bistro serving ‘bite sized portions of love’ alongside strong and tasty cocktails. Start with some fresh guacamole and beetroot chips as you make your way through their extensive cocktail list, said to include one of the largest mescal menus in the world.
Join the Rum Club at this aptly named bar celebrating all things rum. Sit amongst the barrels in this cosy bar and choose from the extensive cocktail list featuring, you guessed it, loads rum. Don’t miss trying their house made spiced rum and chatting to the staff who will happily educate you on what’s good, better and the best in the Rum world. The menu designed by a Michelin-trained chef is pretty darn good, too.
Enjoy a time warp at The Corner House where they celebrate the heritage of what was once an old Sydney tram stop. Head straight to the ‘Living Room’ and a grab a seat before ordering your fill of tasty tapas, gourmet pizzas and fresh cocktails that will keep you cool on a hot Bondi day.
Always pumping, this pub is a Bondi favourite to locals and backpackers alike with its sunny beer garden, rotating DJ set and live bands every week. This is the place to come and relax on the weekend and enjoy a few bevvies with your mates.
No trip to Bondi would be right without a visit to Bondi Icebergs. Visit this iconic venue for an early morning dip in the pool, a bite to eat at lunch or an evening cocktail as the sun sets, you cannot beat the panoramic views across Bondi from this white castle atop the clifftop. Breathtaking!
Another local favourite located just across the road from the sand, Porch and Parlour pulls in the breakfast crowds with their super fresh, locally sourced menu and Will&Co coffee. Porch then turns into a classy wine bar with heaving charcuterie boards and bar staff that definitely know their sav blancs from their pinot gris. Tasty tucker and a cool atmosphere with a view is guaranteed.
