Fashion | Fashion Trends For Summer
There’s something so satisfying about having your seasonal wardrobe organised. Knowing what you’ll wear on a balmy summer night on the beach, a boat trip around the harbour, or a Sunday session on the island brings Zen to a fashion soul. So, if your summer style planning hasn’t started yet, now’s the time to get prepping before the Christmas rush sets in.
While we never need an excuse for a spot of shopping, we’re thinking ahead to the holiday snaps and how good a getaway is going to be with an outfit to match. On that note, we’ve picked out our fave trends for summer that’ll ensure instant style cred and Facebook friendly pics.
White on white
If your wardrobe needs a detox from past season’s pattern and prints, embracing summer freshness is as easy as pairing white with white. However, don’t be fooled by its simplistic appearance. Mastering the look requires consideration to texture and shading to keep the all-white look interesting, think lace, beading and mash-up of white hues.
Off the shoulder neck lines
While crop tops may have been the go-to vehicle for skin exposure these past few seasons, it’s the shoulders that are the new frontier of sexy. As one of the very few trends that doesn’t come with a warning, make this your go-to trend to try for effortless summer style.
It’s a style most of us haven’t embraced since our school days, but don’t let that scare you off. Culottes are back as the new pant silhouette to try this summer (and it’s not like you remember them from the last time they were around!). Ending mid-calf and traditionally cut wide, get yourself some perfectly-polished style by pairing with heels to help elongate the leg. With the temperature climbing, a pair of culottes will be your office outfit go-to for keeping cool nine-to-five.
Brand new boho
While the boho look is nothing new, this season it gets a refresh: reimagined with romantic 70s maxi dress, pattern clashes, peek-a-boo shoulders, fringing and Broderie Anglaise detailing. Embodying a free-spirit style with a refined feel, the best part of this trend is comfort-meets-standout fabrics with relaxed silhouettes featuring tie-dye, patchwork and embroidery for an added head-turning factor.
