Final level of Barangaroo revealed

The final level of Matt Moran and Solotel Group’s newest Barangaroo venture has finally been revealed. House Bar, a relaxed, cheery venue, will take up the ground floor of the new three-level site.

House Bar will join two previously announced venues within the award-winning structure; Smoke, a sophisticated rooftop bar; and Bea, a contemporary Australian restaurant located on the second floor.

“It has been a long time coming, with lots of hard work behind the scenes, but I couldn’t be more excited to have all three venues announced,” said Matt Moran.

“It’s a big, big venue, but the team we’ve assembled is world-class and after three years of planning, we just can’t wait to get the place open.”

House Bar will feature an indoor-outdoor aspect, surrounding the building and spilling out onto a luxurious terrace overlooking the harbour. The interior will be decked out in brass, blackbutt and zinc, and furnished with a mix of high and low tables in shades of deep blue.

The menu has been put together by renowned chef Cory Campbell who has previously worked in Copenhagen’s Noma and Melbourne’s Vue de monde. The menu has been designed to match the comfortable, relaxed vibe of the space, featuring crisp fried fish and chicken wings, as well as buckets of fresh-cooked prawns served with cocktail sauce and bread. Also included on the menu will be chicken and lamb, roasted over a spit daily, served in warm pita bread with fresh salads to match.

House Bar boasts an extensive, yet humble, drinks selection. The bar will stock over 50 local and international beers, both in bottles and on tap. The wine list, constructed by sommelier John Paul Wilkinson, will have a strong focus of quality rosé. The opening cocktail menu is reflective of the coming summer months, with the House Spritz combining elderflower, grapefruit and mint to put a twist on a timeless classic. The Rosé Negroni balances gin, rosé vermouth, rosé wine, Campari and strawberry in a fresh, timely creation.

All three venues will be open on New Year’s Eve.
