First Vivid LIVE artist announced!

The first artist for this year’s Vivid LIVE exhibition has been announced, and it’s none other than Grammy-award winning singer, artist, and activist Solange Knowles.

In an Australian first, Solange will be performing her critically acclaimed breakthrough album, A Seat at the Table, to Sydney audiences in June. These are her only scheduled Australian shows for 2018.

For just four nights only, the R&B superstar will take the Opera House Concert Hall stage to dazzle fans with her commanding vocals and unique style. Audiences will experience a 360° view of Solange’s progressive choreography.

The Sydney Opera House’s Head of Contemporary Music and Vivid LIVE Curator, Ben Marshall, is very excited about the booking.

“Solange Knowles is having her moment on the world stage right now,” Ben says. “With A Seat at the Table’s exploration of black American identity, empowerment and the complexities of black womanhood, she is at the molten-hot intersection of effortlessly cool music and thoughtful activism.”

Vivid LIVE showcases some of the world’s most ambitious and creative artists on some of the country’s most iconic stages, for the world’s largest festival of music, light and ideas.

The festival has seen performances from some of the world’s most prolific musicians, including The Cure, Kraftwerk, Morrisey and Bon Iver.

Now in its 10th year, the festival will run from 25 May to 16 June, providing an avenue for the exchange of ideas, conversations, leading-edge music and stunning visual installations.

Doing things a little differently, Vivid LIVE have announced that tickets to Solange’s shows will offered at random to those who apply between Monday 26 February and Sunday 4 March. You’ve still got a couple of days left, so get in quick.
