A foodies’ dream coming to Circular Quay

Circular Quay’s new Gateway dining and retail development will be unveiled next month.

The $60 million rejuvenation of Alfred Street by DEXUS Property Group, is set to bring 25 new dining options for the city.

The concept behind Gateway Sydney is the 'art of eating'. The new building features intersecting internal laneways on the ground Level and an open, light-filled space above, and the surrounds set a spectacular stage for a dramatic dining experience to unfold, with each of the new retailers serving its dishes with an element of theatre.

The ground level cafe court features a mix of Asian and Middle Eastern fare. On the menu is Indian Street Food by Bilu's, The Gozleme Co. and dumplings by Din Tai Fung. While level one dining showcases communal dining with the 50-seating Hero Sushi Train, the first Sydney venue for the award-winning Canberra-cafe Espresso Room, as well as Burger Project and Chat Thai. Popina, a new collaboration between Salts Meats Cheese and Shuk, due to open mid-October, will take the rooftop restaurant space.

From Level One, diners will be able to enjoy views of the Jessie Street Gardens. A historic garden on Loftus Street that was named in 1990 in honour of feminist and human rights activist, Jessie Street. DEXUS together with City of Sydney has restored the garden and injected it with a firm sense of community, allowing a relaxing, spot of green in the city.

The 25 dining venues of Gateway Sydney will open from early September. The development is sure to revitalise the office and tourist hub of Circular Quay, which again will be further boosted by the arrival of the Sydney light rail.
