Free event celebrating food, music and culture

Barangaroo Reserve will play host to a celebration of music, food and culture next February. Sunset20°N (sunset twenty degrees north) will take place over four weekends, allowing Sydneysiders to indulge in musical performances, art, and local produce at the striking harbourside location.

Designed by Yuwalalaraay artist and designer Lucy Simpson of Gaaww Miyay, Sunset20°N draws its inspiration from the setting of the sun, as well as the stories associated with the location. The location’s namesake, Barangaroo, was a very strong female figure and leader of Sydney’s Cammeraygal people.

The Grandmother Tree is a huge interactive artwork, created by Lucy Simpson and not-for-profit organisation Archrival, and serves as the meeting place for visitors of Sunset20°N. Inspired by the Cammeraygal story and the gorgeous angophora (Sydney Red Gum), the Grandmother Tree plays with light and colour, projecting a vivid filter across the harbour to create a memorable experience for visitors.

Sunset20°N has your food and beverage options sorted. All of the food served will feature local and seasonal produce, paying tribute the iconic headland’s unique history. From delicious Pambula oysters shucked to order, through to complete picnic meals perfect for enjoying on the harbourside, there’s something for everything.

Each weekend will showcase a different female guest chef. With overall curation from Claire Van Vuuren (Bloodwood, Popla), Sunset20°N will feature menus designed by Jane Strode (Fred’s, Sydney) Analiese Gregory (Franklin, Hobart) and Thi Le (Anchovy, Melbourne).

Sunset20°N will feature a musical line-up of mostly female, Australian artists. In order of appearance, they are: Sampa the Great, Wallace, GL, Caiti Baker, Pirra, Mama Kin Spender and the Inner West Voices, Tesse, Tigertown, Tia Gostelow, Thelma Plum, The Morrisons, Okenyo, Saskwatch and Emily Wurramara.
