Free open-air cinema for Chinese New Year!

The Chinese Lunar Calendar officially ticks over on Friday 16 February and to celebrate Harbourside Shopping Centre is hosting a free open-air cinema with skyline views across Sydney’s iconic Darling Harbour.

Held over three nights from Thursday 15 to Saturday 17 February, Lunar Feast on Films will screen an epic line-up of classic Asian films, including martial arts action film House of Flying Daggers, the famed Karate Kid and family favorite Kung Fu Panda under a canopy of lanterns and Chinese decor.

The full program also includes the Karate Kid, award winning anime Spirited Away and Rush Hour 1 & 2 with Jackie Chan to get you in the New Year spirit.

KOI Desserts will be parked up with an array of themed desserts – think mousse cakes and cakes in jars - and Astrobao by Tsuru will serve up its signature freshly-steamed baos, including the roast duck and lychee, chilli tofu and eggplant sambal, along with rice dishes.

Movie-goers looking to feast before the film are in the perfect location too, with modern Asian fusion and Chinese restaurant Dragon Boat at Harbourside Shopping Centre serving up an exotic Chinese New Year banquet, featuring steamed scallops with XO sauce, stir-fried mud-crab and braised pork trotters with black moss.

Harbourside Shopping Centre will also be exhibiting a large-scale display of Chinese lanterns at the Harbourside dome in their popular food court on Level 1, making it the perfect spot for a photo opportunity. Lunar Feast on Films is a FREE event and is first come, first served so arrive early to avoid disappointment.
