Places to 'Workout' Outside in North Sydney

With the weather warming up, don’t feel like you’re missing out on fresh air by spending your time at the gym.

Here are 10 beautiful outdoor locations in North Sydney where you can work up a sweat as well as a tan. Added bonus: you don’t have to pay a cent!

Clark Park, Lavender Bay

At the end of Walker Street in Lavender Bay you’ll find a 100-step staircase heading up and down. It’s easy to do a couple of loops (and limp the way back to your car before anyone sees you).

North Sydney Olympic Pool

So for this one you do need to pay, but it’s a pittance for one of the best workout views in Sydney. Located right underneath the Harbour Bridge you can have a leisurely swim… or pretend you’re the new Michael Phelps and swim to win!

Civic Centre Park

Located on Miller Street you’ll find many sweaty, out-of-breath people. “Why?” you might ask. They’re taking advantage of the outdoor exercise equipment and so should you! Act like The Commando is your personal trainer and lift your chins up to that bar!

St Leonards Park

Another park on Miller Street (what a surprise!), this one full of netball  and basketball courts, a cricket pitch and bowling greens. Grab a ball and a bunch of friends and bring them all down for a game before setting up a picnic with the supplied barbecues.

Blues Point Reserve

An iconic location for the upcoming New Years Eve celebrations, head down without all the crowds and go for a run along the foreshore before playing around in the maritime-themed custom-designed playground. Yes, it’s for kids, but don’t they realise you have calories to burn?

Cremorne Reserve

The perfect place for a day trip the 3km foreshore is a great place for a run (or walk) - just be wary of the golden oldies in their lycra who have the same idea. You’ll also find MacCallum Pool on the harbourside which is has a 1920s vibe and one of the best views in Sydney.
