Sydney’s best brunch spots

El Camino Cantina

18 Argyle St, The Rocks

Yes it’s Tex Mex but before you judge, Tex Mex is a more than an acceptable brunch cuisine. As the most recent addition to The Argyle, this haunt not only serves up one of the best $2 taco nights around (with unlimited free chips and dips might we add) but they have recently launched a new brunch menu that sets the bar high.

Menu staples include the Huevos Rancheros (eggs sunny side up, black beans, avocado, chorizo, salsa Mexicana, cilantro, ranchero sauce) and the Breakfast Burrito (scrambled eggs, chorizo, diced potatoes, bacon and monterey jack cheese with baby arugula salad). The real star of the menu is the Huevos Spoes, boasting fresh corn and chilli fritters for the base layer, topped with poached eggs, sliced smoked pork and a chipotle hollandaise that is out of this world.

But it doesn’t stop there; THEY HAVE A BOTTOMLESS BRUNCH OPTION. In New York, bottomless brunches are a big thing. Not the kind of bottomless that allows you to eat in your underwear, like those magical weekends when all the roommates are out of town – bottomless in the sense that the drinks are unlimited. Sydney is finally starting to cotton on, and El Camino Cantina offers a $29 bunch and booze special.

Black bird Café

Cockle Bay Wharf, Harbour Street

Another joint joining the bottomless brunch party is the Blackbird Café at Cockle Bay, which has just teamed up with Good Food Month to deliver Mimosa Mornings.

Every Sunday, from 11am to 3pm, bottomless mimosas will be matched with stunning harbour views for a limited edition bunch affair.

Paramount Coffee Project

80 Commonwealth St, Surry Hills

Nestled on Commonwealth Street in Surry Hills, Paramount Coffee Project  is a go-to for coffee snobs and foodies alike. E

stablished as a collaboration between Jin Ng of Paramount House, Mark Dundon of Seven Seeds and Russell Beard of Reuben Hills, the cafe boasts exceptional local and international roasters.

This joint is also popular with locals thanks to its turmeric latte and insane shakes, including flavours like Salted Pistachio and Nutella, and Buttered Popcorn.

On the food front the menu is pretty much all brunch, with standouts including the Buttermilk Fried Chicken Waffle (with maple bacon gravy, chilli pickled apple, charred radicchio and roasted hazelnuts) and the Soft Baked Eggs.

COOH, Curl Curl and Alexandria

Born from the passion of creating delicious healthy and organic food, COOH has grown from a small café in North Curl Curl, to a huge restaurant and event space in Alexandria.

Boasting a vast menu of healthy wholesome dishes, smoothies, juices and house roasted coffee, COOH remains true to its belief of only using fresh, local ingredients and produce – and it shows!

Highlights from this gem include the Buckwheat Pancake (gluten/dairy free buckwheat coconut and berry pancake topped with seasonal fruit, dairy free coconut yoghurt and toasted coconut chips) and th Mexican Eggs (eggs smokey house beans with jalapenos and cheese served with sour cream, avocado salsa and toasted sourdough). When it comes to refreshments and beverages, it’s hard to go past COOH’s offering of fresh smoothies and Kombucha on tap.
