Sydney is the craft beer capital!

With historic tours, Australia’s oldest pub brewery and a huge range of locally produced brews, Sydney is the flavour capital for craft beer.  Here are some of the best microbreweries the harbour city has to offer.

Lord Nelson Brewery

Today the Lord Nelson Brewery Hotel is Australia's oldest pub brewery, famous throughout the world for award-winning natural ales. Brewed with only malt, hops, yeast and water (no added sugars, preservatives or additives), it truly is 100 per cent natural beer.

The brewing process begins in the mash tun in the hotel's cellar, then the ales are fermented in the brewery at the rear of the bar, matured directly below this space in the cellar and conditioned in the Bright Beer room before being sent through to the taps in the first floor bar.

The Keg & Brew

The Keg & Brew is all about the love of good beer. With more than 30 taps including three hand pumps, pouring an extensive selection of craft beers, ciders and golden oldies and a great range of bourbons, there is something for everyone.

The menu features much-loved traditional pub food with a new deep South American twist. Try one of the delicious daily specials, including Southern-spiced fried chicken burger with avocado salsa, cheese and house-made sauce.

Dave’s Brewery Tours

Dave's Brewery Tours are all about taking you to where good craft beer is made and where good things are happening. They bring together people wanting to taste and experience the best local beer, with those who make it. To them, it's more than the art and science of brewing or the mechanics of a micro-brewery; it's the stories, the legends, the scars of effort and devotion to doing something different. They promise that you will have a great day out, meet some interesting people, and taste some amazing locally produced craft beers along the way.

Harts Pub

One of the original Sydney venues on the craft beer scene, Harts Pub has been championing an all-Australian craft beer line-up since 2009. Originally a private residence spanning three terraces, Harts Pub survived the post-bubonic plague demolitions in The Rocks to become home to a range of characters, including Margaret Fulton - one of Australia's greatest gourmet pioneers.

Renovated with an eye to historical accuracy, Harts Pub is proud of its reputation as one of Australia's iconic craft beer venues, with a rotating array of beers, and specialty beer-matched menu.

Sydney Brewery

From the heart of Surry Hills, the Sydney Brewery is dedicated to creating the best craft beers in Australia. Brewed lovingly by hand in small batches, each variant is designed to epitomise the local style, personality and people of the suburbs that make this city great.

With beers from Paddo Pale, Surry Hills Pils, Glamarama Summer Ale, Newtown Bitter, Darlo Dark and Potts Point Porter to the aptly named Sydney Cider, Sydney Brewery certainly epitomises local brewing and has a flavour profile to suit all palates.

Wayward Brewing Co.

Wayward Brewing Co have been brewing beers for over four years and have now made their home in Camperdown.  Peter Philip and his number one brewer Shaun Blissett, have welcomed everyone to their brewing home to sample their award winning beers at The Cellar.

The 12-tap bar features a constantly changing tap list of craft-beer goodness, pouring both award-winning Wayward favourites and single-batch Wayward beers that are only available at the brewery between Thursday and Sunday, with gourmet food trucks present on Friday to Sunday.

Batch Brewing Co.

Visit the Batch Brewing Company to sample a range of hand crafted beers. Enjoy a jar or two with your friends and take away a growler (1.89L) or bomber (640mL) of your favourite.

Batch Brewing Company brews beer the traditional way, hand crafted and batch by batch. This ever expanding list of creations is a testament to the core values behind fresh, quality beer.
