Sydney's best walks

Living in a big city doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice lush walking tracks lined with picturesque scenery. We’ve put together a list of some of the best that Sydney has to offer.

Bondi to Coogee

Extending for 6km along the city’s eastern suburbs, the Bondi to Coogee walk features amazing views of bays, rock pools and parks. This is one that can be done slowly, with many cafes, restaurants and beaches to stop at along the way.

Royal National Park

Although the whole National Park walk is 26kms long and takes two days to complete, you can trek through smaller sections to get a taste of what the park has to offer. The route offers various terrain, including over sandstone cliffs, through bushland and red soil tracks.

Circular Key to Royal Botanic Gardens

This walk shows off some of the city’s greatest architectural wonders, such as the Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House, finishing in the magnificent Royal Botanic Gardens.

Hermitage Foreshore

This cruisy 1.8km stroll offers stunning views of the harbour. You’ll pass through a number of small, isolated beaches, so be sure to pack some swimmers! Catch great views of Shark Island and the Harbour Bridge, and finish up in Nielsen Park.

Bradleys Head to Chowder Bay

Beginning at Taronga Zoo, this walk takes you on a 4km trip down to the lovely beaches and cafes of Chowder Bay. The easy bush track weaves along the headlands, offering fantastic views of the harbour.

Grand Canyon track

Starting out from the Evans lookout in the Blue Mountains, this challenging trail rewards you with a series of beautiful waterfalls and creeks. The 6.3km loop takes you through luscious ferns and golden wattles.
