Toast to Origin!

With State of Origin Game I playing in Melbourne, it’s a night to get out in Sydney and hit your favourite local to watch the game.  Here’s some of the action happening at venues across the city.

The Bavarian, Munich Brauhaus and The Bavarian Beerhaüs

Game night will fire up with live and loud TV screenings, 10¢ chicken wings, and footy feasts to fuel the fanatics.  
Origin and beer enthusiasts can enjoy a stellar line-up of traditional Bavarian and local craft beers on tap from a number of vessels including the Bavarian restaurants’ legendary steins, 1-litre glass boots and 2-litre beer towers.

Game-watchers can snack on tasty chicken wings for just 10¢ each, while groups of four can indulge in the Epic Sports Feast ($140). This impressive, meat-filled platter includes two giant pretzels, mac and cheese balls, a full rack of succulent ribs, a whole roast chicken, half a kilo of BBQ chicken wings, pepper and garlic Kielbasa sausages, two cheese Kranskies, as well as fries, mashed potato a 2-litre beer tower. 

Australian Heritage Hotel, The Rocks

Watch the teams go head-to-head at one of Sydney’s most iconic pubs. It won’t be just state vs state, but also beer vs beer. The Aussie pours Balter Strong Pale Ale (QLD) and Akasha Pale Ale (NSW) – who will win? If you’re feeling peckish, try the Coat of Arms pizza ($27): half emu and half pepper kangaroo with bush tomato, capsicum and lemon myrtle mayo; or The Australian pizza ($27): crocodile, mushroom, fresh mozzarella, eggplant and olives.

Manly Wharf Hotel, Manly

Deck out in team colours and watch the State of Origin wharf side. Manly Wharf Hotel serves free footy food and $13 jugs of Toohey’s New for all three games.

The Glenmore, The Rocks

Soak up the atmosphere at The Glenmore and watch the State of Origin live and loud. Head up to the rooftop at half time and indulge in a Glenmore burger ($22); or chicken schnitzel with coleslaw and chips ($23), whilst overlooking views of Sydney Harbour.

The Royal, Leichhardt

Inner-west’s favourite local, The Royal Leichhardt broadcasts the State of Origin live and loud. For the ultimate experience book a private room in the Botanical. Satisfy your taste buds with a chicken parmi ($22); or the Royale burger with American cheese, bacon and The Royal’s secret sauce ($20).

Tudor Hotel, Redfern

Watch the big clash between QLD and NSW live and loud at the Tudor Hotel. Cheers with tinnies of VB ($5) and feast on The State of Origin food special of slow cooked beef ribs with chips and slaw ($22).
