Unique House of Discovery opens its doors

Uncover and celebrate the drink trends of 2018 with Dan Murphy’s, as they unveil their interactive House of Discovery in the heart of Sydney. Located in Chippendale, the House of Discovery is an abandoned heritage house that has been decked out with installations reflecting the recent trends and habits in drinking.

Up-market tequila has seen a surge in popularity recently, appearing on cocktail lists and bar shelves around the nation. Take a stroll down the agave garden path, where you’ll experience the differences between a variety of tequilas, and how to enjoy them properly (no salt or lime here!).

Make your way through each room to the soundtrack providing by DJ Flex Mami, and experience the best of this year’s drinking habits.

The meteoric rise of cocktail culture has seen it make its way into households across the country. Many have shown a bigger interest in learning the tricks of the trade, enjoying bar-quality cocktails from the comfort of their own homes. This section of the House of Discovery will be split in two parts – the Tiki Bar and the 1950’s Martini Bar – where you can learn to mix classic drinks like a pro.

Gone are the days where you would always select your beer or wine based on your meal. Some diners are now opting to pair food to their favourite beverage.

“The tradition of food and drink matching is people selecting their meal and then a drink to accompany,” said Dan Murphy’s Spirit Ambassador, Charlie Sainsbury. “But, on-premise we’re seeing that order reverse with dishes served to match the drink choice. There’s no doubt this will follow in to the home.”

Guests at the House of Discovery will finish their journey in the courtyard, where Sydney-favourite Spice Alley will pair some delicious dishes to a special drinks list.

The House of Discovery will open from Thursday 8 March to Saturday 10 March, at 48 Kensington St, Chippendale. Tickets for this unique are event are just $50, and can be purchased from Trybooking.
