Winter warmers at The Botanist

Botanical oasis The Botanist has launched a brand new menu filled with wintery dishes.

Named after the English botanist who ran a bookshop on the site during the turn of the century, the charming apothecary-style restaurant and bar in lower north shore’s Kirribilli is offering warming seasonal plates, bar fare and a banquet feast with eight delightful courses.

Head chef Sa Va'afusuaga has headed up the kitchen at The Botanist since 2016 following stints at Brisbane’s Billykart Annerley and UP on Constance.

He says the menu was inspired by in-season produce such as beets and has a Mediterranean influence from travels around the world.

Highlights include the sticky lamb neck with smoked yoghurt and ras el hanout, Waygu Tajima, roasted chermoula salmon tail accompanied by pickled cucumber and roasted grapes, and the moorish oxtail croquettes with green romesco and preserved lemons.

Bar fare features soft shell crab rolls and beer battered steak fries with rosemary salt, and home-made artichoke pizzas.
