Your guide to ANZAC Day

Get out in Sydney on ANZAC Day, with our list of some of the top venues to commemorate and celebrate the day.

The Australian Heritage Hotel and The Glenmore Hotel, The Rocks
The Australian Heritage Hotel and The Glenmore Hotel in The Rocks team up to create arguably one of the best spots to commemorate ANZAC Day. From 6am, The Australian welcomes veterans, family and friends with a hearty BBQ breakfast. Cumberland Street is taken over and becomes the stage for a special performance by The Scots Marching Band while Gloucester Street turns into one of the largest two-up arenas in Sydney from 12pm. The Glenmore’s rooftop is the perfect spot to end the day with a cold one in hand and overlooking 180-degree views of Sydney harbour.

ANZAC Day At The Argyle and El Camino Cantina
The Argyle opens its doors at 8am on Wednesday 25th April, firing up the barbie to serve breakfast to hungry ANZAC Day parade supporters. Those joining can grab a delicious brekky bacon & roll for $5. All day BBQ menu items include juicy lamp chops ($10), small steaks ($10) and classic sausage sandwiches ($5). Live music begins at 11am with Gemma Lyon and Martini Club taking the stage, followed by a line-up of DJs such as Recess who will play late into the night. The Argyle’s courtyard transforms into a giant two-up arena, where guests can try their luck between 1pm – 3pm. The Argyle’s Espresso Yo’Self cocktail pop-up is open all day, serving classic espresso cocktails as well as unique variation including Intuition for Beginners, Lost & Found and The Formula for Happiness. Entry is free, and The Argyle’s usual menu items will still be on offer.

Just next door at El Camino Cantina, guests can try the ANZAC-rita ($16). A twist on the classic Margarita, it’s blended with creamy coconut syrup and garnished with delicious ANZAC biscuits.

Manly Wharf Hotel, Manly
Commemorate Australian diggers this ANZAC Day by the water at Manly Wharf Hotel. While away the afternoon with a jug (or two) of One Fifty Lashes ($16) and get into the spirit with a game of two-up on the wharf jetty. Hit the dancefloor from 5pm with tunes from Sydney’s favourite local DJs.

Endeavour Tap Rooms, The Rocks
Enjoy a buzzing atmosphere plus a special performance from the NSW pipe band! Doors open at 10am and they will be dishing up a delicious menu and house-brewed beers all day long. Enjoy favourites including smoked meats plus all-Australian beers from the on-site brewery.

The Royal, Leichhardt
Honour the ANZACs at the inner west’s favourite local, The Royal Leichhardt. Round up family and friends and unleash your competitive side with a game of two-up in the main bar from 1pm. Party into the night with live music from 6.30pm.

The Tudor, Redfern
Salute our diggers this ANZAC Day at Redfern’s local gem, The Tudor. Get into the spirit with a game of two-up in the courtyard and cheers to our brave servicemen and women with a cold brew. The pub serves a special lamb burger with tzatziki, rocket and capsicum ($22) on the day.
