Doughnut Open If Trying To Be Healthy

If you missed National Doughnut Day in June we’ve got some news for you...you don’t need a dedicated day to eat doughnuts; you can eat them every single day of the year! At the rate Sydney is churning out new doughnut hot spots this is great news for all the lovers of this fried confectionary. Here’s our continued list of where to get your doughnut fix.

Gowings Bar and Grill - Market St, Sydney

This suave restaurant is tucked away in the QT Sydney hotel building in the city. There are many delicious things worth trying on the menu but our eyes go straight to the desert menu. The Hot Beignets are reminiscent of European market style donuts that have a heavy dusting of icing sugar.  Simple yet oh so delicious!

Sadhana Kitchen - Enmore Rd, Enmore

Who said doughnuts have to be unhealthy? Keep your eyes on the specials at Sadhana kitchen for these organic, raw, vegan, gluten free and sugar free delicious doughnuts. They are definitely a hit for vegans and non-vegans alike and come packed with all the flavour minus the guilt!

The Grounds of Alexandria - Huntley St, Alexandria

Head to The Grounds of Alexandria on weekends for their small selection of market stalls. Walk past all the people waiting for a reservation and make a B line for the doughnut stall. Delicious little balls of cinnamon are pumped with fruit jam or Nutella rolled in sugar. Delicious!

Woah Nelly Bakes - Online

Woah Nelly is a dangerously simple website for ordering donuts straight to your mouth. Go for a lucky dip selection or choose your own flavours. Flavours include Salted Caramel with Pretzel, Maple Bacon, Oreo Peanut Butter and Homer Simpson (strawberry icing topped with chocolate sprinkles). What’s even more dangerous is the free delivery to Sydney CBD on Fridays!

Flour and Stone - Riley St, Woolloomooloo

If you think the doughnut craze is losing touch a little with these complex and outrageous flavour combinations then head to this bakery for a classic pastry fix. The doughnuts at Flour and Stone are round, plump and rolled in sugar. Choose from fillings like berry compote made from real berries so it’s not sickly sweet and artificial or thick custard dotted with flecks of vanilla bean.

The Cook and Baker - Oxford St, Bondi Junction

Just looking at the doughnuts from The Cook and Baker, overflowing with custard makes us weak at the knees. These round doughnuts have been sliced down the middle making a small pocket for loads of oozing custard and jam. Its impossible to eat one of these bad boys without getting powdered sugar all over your face, but hey, its so worth it!
