FASHFEST 2017 tickets on sale now

Tickets for Canberra’s largest annual red-carpet event have gone on sale! FASHFEST 2017 will be held 28 to 30 September. Three nights. Six distinct shows. One total fashion experience.

Now in its fifth year, FASHFEST showcases the work of more than 40 fashion designers — local, national and international — some putting on their own collections and others forming inspirational group shows. There will also be 15 live musician and DJ acts bringing the designer collections to life.

For the first time, FASHFEST will shine the spotlight on textile designs and textile art from the Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair Foundation. 12 Indigenous designers will each present a high-end look created from textiles made in remote Northern Territory communities.

New this year is a show highlighting the diversity of six designers from New Zealand, including several labels by Trelise Cooper, one of the country’s hottest fashion exporters. This show is sponsored by the New Zealand High Commission.

Alex Perry will be on the catwalk for the first time, in a show curated by Momento Dezigns, who will also present Bec & Bridge, Camilla, Ginger & Smart, KITX, Misha Collection and Moss & Spy.

FASHFEST has not lost its focus on local and independent designers, with many favourites returning such as Karen Lee, BT, and Zilpah Tart. New independent labels include Gabrielle Spencer Bridal, Gehrich and Thunder Thighs.

De Challie, one of Australia’s most established couture names, is also appearing for the first time at this year’s event.

Last year, FASHFEST showcased the amazing work of Charly Thorn (17 years of age at the time). Charly went on to showcase her collection at Vancouver Fashion Week and is soon to head to Los Angeles Fashion Week. Charly will be back again with her spring/summer fashion.

Also this year, young Canberra designer, Ashleigh Bujaroski, will launch her Summer Paradise Seekers label. And young fashion design student from the Canberra Institute of Technology will put on not one, but two, full collections at FASHFEST.

A highlight on the music front is the band Soulitude, which will launch as a collective at FASHFEST — a super experienced four-piece band delivering soul infused funk. Patrons can also look forward to the one-man wonder band that is Ned Philpot and a DJ performance by the DMC turntablist champion Sandman.

Tickets start from $49. VIP and Platinum ‘experience’ includes exclusive guided backstage tours. Discounts available for two-show packages and bookings of six tickets.

FASHFEST will be held at the National Convention Centre Canberra. The first show on each night starts at 7pm and the second at 9pm.
