Sylvia Jeffreys' fave community event

Television personality and Today news presenter Sylvia Jeffreys will be joining more than 80,000 participants who are expected to lace up their running shoes and take part in the world¹s largest fun run, The Sun-Herald City2Surf on Sunday 12 August.

Now in its 48th year, City2Surf, voted Australia's Best Sporting Event in 2017, is the most anticipated running event in the calendar.

The 14km course spans from Sydney's Hyde Park through the city's streets, up the infamous Heartbreak Hill, along New South Head and Military Road and comes to a stunning finish on the world-renowned Bondi Beach.

Sylvia Jeffreys has joined the team as an ambassador for the iconic event and will be running to raise funds and awareness for her chosen charity, Youngcare.

The Australian charity creates choice for young people with high care needs by providing fully accessible and age-appropriate living spaces, grants for equipment and home modifications and support through a national phone line.

“I’m so pleased that David Campbell and Simon Pryce, AKA the Red Wiggle, will be running with me as part of our Youngcare Team, it's going to be a lot of fun,” Sylvia says.

“I've also convinced a bunch of my Channel Nine colleagues to join us, so look out for a sea of red on the course!”

She said City2Surf has become her favourite community event.

“It's a thrill to run alongside thousands of others, young and old, through a city I love and for a cause I am very passionate about. I hope as many people as possible get involved to smash our fundraising goals and enjoy the electrifying atmosphere along Sydney's streets and down at beautiful Bondi Beach.”

City2Surf has raised more than $36 million since 2008, when the fundraising tally was first recorded. This year City2Surf aims to raise another $5 million for more than 900 charities.

City2Surf brings people from all walks of life together, including elite athletes, fun-runners, families and fundraisers, as well as thousands of spectators, to create a truly unique sense of community.
